The Managing Director will oversee all business operations, performance of the Company and people. They will be responsible for guiding the Company in the most profitable direction while also implementing its vision, mission and long-term goals in line with the Company’s Strategy.
We are looking for an experienced Managing Director who has successfully implemented an online growth strategy in a relevant omnichannel retailer.
Develop an overall strategy for the Company that delivers sustainable profitable growth, communicate this strategy to all staff and ensure appropriate policies are developed to meet the Company’s mission and objectives.
Prepare and implement annual business plans, work with the Senior Management Team to oversee their implementation, monitor progress against these plans to ensure that the company attains its objectives as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible.
Build and maintain an effective Senior Management Team to ensure they are motivated, trained and developed to deliver the Company’s mission and objectives. Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of the Senior Management team providing guidance and motivation to drive performance.
Interview for senior positions within the organisation and sign off offers of employment.
Work closely with the Operations Manager to seek opportunities, increase efficiencies, implement new processes across the business to achieve the Company’s strategy.
Analyse opportunities for growth to drive profitability and ensure that the Company remains at the forefront in the industry by applying the most cost-effective methods and approaches. Ensure the Company provides leading edge products and retains its competitive edge while delivering excellent customer service.
Develop and implement a solid eCommerce strategy that drives growth, setting KPI’s and achieving strategic and commercial results.
Work closely with the Operations Manager, Head of Marketing and Developers to drive eCommerce forward. Oversee all aspects of eCommerce including business planning, content strategy, promotional campaigns, online marketing, website design, customer service, web analytics and web technologies.
Oversee the company’s financial performance, full responsibility of the P&L, preparation of the annual report, investments and other business ventures and ensure their approval by the Owners/Directors. Report Company results to the Owners/Directors at regular intervals.
Set Company budgets and forecasts alongside the Owners/Accountants.
Prepare, gain acceptance, and monitor the implementation of the annual budget to ensure that budget targets are met, that revenue flows are maximised and that fixed costs are minimised.
Assume full accountability for the Owners/Directors for all company operations.
Communicate and maintain effective relationships with major customers, business partners, suppliers, key decision makers and other stakeholders to drive the business forward.
Represent the company in negotiations with customers, suppliers, government departments and other key contacts to secure for it the most effective contract terms.
Develop and direct the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that the company complies with all health and safety and other statutory regulations including product compliance in line with Global Standards.
Proven track record of successfully managing an ecommerce organisation at Managing Director level and has successfully implemented an online growth strategy.
Demonstrable experience in developing strategies and business plans
Relevant and proven industry experience within the retail and e-commerce sectors
Strong understanding of corporate finance, measures of performance and corporate laws
Strong understanding of management best practices
