Sgraffito, meaning 'scratch' in Italian, is a pottery decorating technique of applying layers of colour to pottery before scratching off parts of the layers to create pattern and texture.
The other side of the decoration is glazed, with a sentimental quote stamped underneath reading 'I may not always be with you but I will always be there for you'. A loop of natural twine is threaded through a small hole in the top of the decoration, meaning the decoration can be hung from anywhere, with both or either sides visible.
